 BRS's 65th Year
September 2019
In This Issue

Register now for the 2019-2020 season!

If you play recorders, baroque flute or other early winds, or baroque strings, we're looking forward to making music with you! Please join us for the 2019-2020 season, our 65th year of playing together. New players are always welcome, and your first session is free.

Our BRS ensemble groups meet at Lesley University's University Hall in Porter Square, Cambridge one Sunday evening per month, from 6:30-9:00PM. We take a break mid-evening for socializing and refreshments.

This month's coaches: Carol Lewis, Emily O'Brien, and Liza Malamut (for the loud band).

Please register and then RSVP for our season opener: Sunday, September 22, 6:30-9:00PM. A prompt reply helps our coaches with their preparations.

We encourage you to bring a snack to share for our September meeting--savory or sweet nibbles, fruit, or something to drink. We provide paper goods.
Ensemble Offerings for 2019-2020

Ability-matched ensembles for recorders, baroque flutes, and strings:
  • You will be placed in a group with players of similar skills and experience.
  • You will play with the same group and the same coach (if possible) for the semester.
  • Music will include a variety of styles and periods.
  • Advance registration is very important for the success of these groups. The more pre-registered members, the more effectively we can match players and coaches.
Loud Band for players of all the various early winds and percussion:
  • All loud wind instruments welcome! Shawms, sackbuts, dulcians, cornettos, serpents, and anything else you want to try.
  • This is a mixed-level ensemble--you don't need to be an expert! A supportive environment for learning and fun.
